Course Overview
In this course, students will get an overview of many of the aspects involved in administering a SharePoint Online environment using the SharePoint Online Administration Center and PowerShell. Students will learn how to manage the creation and deletion of site collections; handle site collection settings such as quotas and administrators; control external sharing; manage service applications; control which information is managed in user profiles; and handle the distribution and licensing of apps. Students will also learn advanced site collection administration topics such as how to activate and deactivate features, create site policies, publish content across site collections, and more. Additionally, students will learn how to set up a hybrid environment that connects their local SharePoint environment to Office 365, and will also get an overview of a few of the popular tools available for migrating content from an on-premises SharePoint environment to Office 365.

Course Modules

Module 1: Managing Site Collections and Your Public Site
In this module, you will get familiar with the web-based SharePoint Administration center. You will also learn about available options available on the Settings page in the Admin Center. You will walk through how to create new site collections using the SharePoint Admin Center, and learn how to manage the settings on site collections such as quotas, sharing options, site resource quotas, and site collection administrators. You will learn how to manage the public site associated with your tenant’s domain, buy more storage, and upgrade a site collection.
Module 2: Managing Service Applications I
This module will cover the basics of managing service application-specific functionality in SharePoint Online, such as InfoPath, User Profiles, Business Connectivity Services, the Secure Store Service, Term Store Management, Records Management, and Search.
Module 3: Managing Service Applications II
This module will extend the coverage of managing service application-specific functionality in SharePoint Online, such as InfoPath, User Profiles, Business Connectivity Services, the Secure Store Service, Term Store Management, Records Management, and Search.
Module 4: Add-in Management
In this module, you will learn how to create an app catalog and how to manage app purchases, licenses, and permissions, and how to monitor how apps are being used within your tenant. You will also learn about the developer site template and how it can be used to test applications in your tenant.
Module 5: Advanced Topics for Site Collection Administrators
In this module, you will learn the next steps in managing settings within a SharePoint site collection, beyond basic topics such as creating content and managing users. This module will cover topics such as creating site policies, working with features, uploading and activating sandboxed solutions, setting up user alerts, and publishing content types across site collections.
Module 6: Managing SharePoint Using PowerShell
This module will introduce you to the SharePoint Online Management Shell and how you can use it manage SharePoint Online using PowerShell commands. You will learn how to do manage site collections, sites, lists and libraries, and users, using PowerShell. You will also get an overview of PowerShell commands you can use to manage search and apps.
Module 7: Hybrid and Migration Strategies
In this module, you will learn how to enable hybrid SharePoint Sites and Hybrid OneDrive for Business scenarios, allowing users to navigate to an on-premise SharePoint environment while also leveraging Office 365 components such as OneDrive for Business. This course will also give an overview of several popular third party tools that can be used to migrate your data from an on-premise SharePoint environment to SharePoint Online.
Lab: SharePoint Online Administration

In this lab, you will get a chance to log into the SharePoint admin center and get familiar with the various settings found there. You will learn how to manage some of the overall settings for SharePoint Online such as enabling self-service site creation and turning on Yammer within your organization. You will also learn how to create, delete, and restore a site collection, as well as manage the properties related to a site collection.
