Lab: Implementing Secure Azure Networks with Barracuda Firewall

In this lab, you will deploy a Barracuda Next Generation (NG) firewall and use it to secure traffic for an Azure Virtual Network. This lab will team you how to configure user defined routes for the virtual appliance as well as how to forward traffic between two Azure regions.

  • Part I (exercises 1 to 5) - implementation of a stand-alone Barracuda NextGen Firewall F-Series network virtual appliance (NVA)
  • Part II (exercises 6 and 7) - implementation of a highly-available cluster consisting of two network virtual appliances (NVA) Barracuda NextGen Firewall F-Series


Exercise 1: Setting up the Lab Prerequisites
In this exercise, you will download the required files for this course, install the Azure PowerShell modules, configure the Windows PowerShell execution policy, and connect to the Azure portal.
Exercise 2: Implementing Virtual Networks in Azure
In this exercise, you will use an Azure PowerShell script to create two virtual networks and connect them via a VNet-to-VNet connection. The virtual networks will be used for the remainder of this lab.
Exercise 3: Deploying Lab Virtual Machines into the Lab Virtual Networks
In this exercise, you will deploy lab virtual machines into the two virtual networks created in the previous exercise.
Exercise 4: Evaluate the Status of the Current Lab Environment
In this exercise, you will connect to the newly deployed virtual machines and evaluate the current network status of the lab environment.
Exercise 5: Configure User Defined Routes
In this exercise, you will configure User Defined Routes in the lab environment to force the traffic flow via the Barracuda NextGen virtual appliance.
Exercise 6: Configure Network Security Groups
In this exercise, you will configure Network Security Groups in the lab environment to block traffic to designated subnets.
